This patch provides a new set of maps, namely a "Gradient" display of "Endemic Malaria", which has been supplied on the CD only in "Categories" (click here to view an example).

Some other map files are also corrected. For details on Patch2 updates click here.

Accessing maps off the hard drive?

This patch is SUITABLE for users who have installed the entire MARA LITe CD (including the maps) and are running the maps module off the hard drive (not off the CD).

1. Download MaraLITePatch02.exe; save to your hard drive and execute.

          This updates the MARA LITe database with the required information.

2. Download MaraLITePatch02maps.exe; save and execute.

          This provides the required map files. Extract files to your  \MaraLITe\Maps  directory.

3. South Africa contours files are provided separately because of their size: MaraLITePatch02SafContours.exe

Accessing maps off the MARA LITe CD?

This patch is NOT SUITABLE if you are currently accessing the maps off the MARA LITe CD.

Why? Because some of the files required to display the new set of maps will be saved on your hard drive, while others will be on the CD. MARA LITe does not "know" which files are stored where.

However, if you still wish to access the new set of maps, you have two options:

1. Burn a new CD which includes new map files

- Copy the entire contents of the MARA LITe CD temporarily to your hard drive.

- Extract MaraLITePatch02maps.exe to the temporary  \Maps  directory.

- Burn a new CD, with the original and the new maps, and keeping the same directory structure as on the original CD.

- Install MaraLITePatch02.exe. Use the new CD when running the Maps module.

2. Open the new map workspaces from within MapInfo ProViewer

- Extract MaraLITePatch02maps.exe to the  \MaraLITe\Maps  directory on your hard drive.

- Open MapInfo ProViewer (Start > Programs > MapInfo > MapInfo ProViewer)

- Under "Open MapInfo Tables or Workspaces", set Files of Type to "MapInfo Workspaces"

- Select a workspace (see map names page for details on the naming convention), Click Open.

        The following message will appear:

             "Please locate xxxxx.TAB:"

- Browse to the correct   \Maps  directory: "Distribution.TAB" and "L_Distribution10Cat.TAB" should be on c:\MaraLITe\Maps, the rest on the MARA LITe CD under  \Maps.

- Select the .TAB file called for in the message, then click Open.

At the next message browse for the next required .TAB file.
